2. Drape Insulation

Why drape insulation between your rafters?
Because you can save up to 30% on your energy costs.

Low-E Reflective Insulation will reflect 97% of the radiant heat off your roof and thereby greatly reduce any need for air conditioning . . . and . . . it will keep heat in your home in the winter!

For more information on this wonderful material please read about it here at Insulated Metal Roofing.

The “Drape Insulation” application assumes an open rafter system where the metal roofing material is attached to the rafters. In other words you drape the Low-E insulation between the rafters before applying your roofing materials. This process will give you the air space needed between the Low-E insulation and your roofing.

One situation where this application works very well is with an all metal building. Here you can use a Low-E material which is 99% pure aluminum faced on the outside and a white backing on the inside. With this product your ceiling is completed with this process and you have both the reflective qualities and a 7 R-Value.

This application is not only very effective, where and when applicable, but easy to do as well.

If you have not already seen the advantages of Low-E you may click here to see the advantages of using Low-E.

In a residential setting you are more likely to have a solid deck on which to apply your roofing materials. In this case there are two other applications that may work better for you. Please see the other applications for the Low-E Reflective Insulation at the link immediately below.
