Residential Metal Roofing Prices
Residential metal roofing prices are dependent on many factors as we have already stated. However, there are also many factors that will essentially reduce your price! Here you will find a potential energy tax credit, a possible insurance discount and several other cost reduction methods worthy of consideration. Tax Credit of $1,500? If you install an
Energy Star
labeled metal roof in 2009 or 2010 you may be eligible for a tax credit of up to $1,500 (or 30% of your new roof cost, up to $1,500). This is much better than a tax deduction in that it is equal to a dollar for dollar tax savings. For example; if you are in a 28% tax bracket you would need a tax deduction of $5,357 to save $1,500 in taxes. The $1,500 tax credit actually saves you from paying $1,500 in taxes! Now we are beginning to talk about some serious bucks here. How often would you like a tax deduction of of over $5,000? Check with your tax person to see if you can qualify for the
Energy Tax Credit
for your new metal roof. Take it, add it to the other savings areas and see what your totals come to in relationship to a conventional - low benefit roof. A 30% Insurance Discount? Some insurance companies, in some geographical areas will discount your homeowners policy if you have a metal roof! Again, this will not be a huge number, but if you get it you will probably receive it as long as you are under the protection of a metal roof and it may be as much as 30% of your current premium. Even without the insurance discount in your area this tells us that we have better protection with a metal roof. Metal is not combustible and has a Class A (1) fire rating, in many cases. The point is you have better protection for your family with metal roofing than you do with a conventional roof, against extreme weather, impacts of various types, insects and other pests, rot, cracking, etc., and, from fire.
