9. What kind of warranty can I expect?

Even without a warranty, if I were a betting man, I would put my money on metal outlasting asphalt shingle any day of the week! Have you ever seen any metal dry up and shrivel away? No ... the stuff lasts forever.

When it comes right down to it metal will last, literally, forever as long as it does not rust out. Therefore your guarantee is typically not on the metal. Rather it is based on the paint or coating system used which prevents oxidation and rust,. Metal is for lifetime. We have seen warranties up to 35 years with respect to color fading. Frankly, I’m disappointed with most warranties. Is your impression the same as mine after reading one of those things? It seems one needs to hire a Philadelphia lawyer in hopes of understanding the built in loopholes.

When it comes to companies backing their products these days I think you must rely on the company itself for granting satisfaction when a problem occurs, regardless of the product in question. Even then you are often left to the mercies they wish to grant, or not grant. Sorry about that, but the day of the handshake and honoring of ones word are long gone in most circles today. We are pretty much left to trying to understand the legaleze and hoping for the best. Hey, sorry about that, read the small print for understanding and you’ll probably be just fine.

Actually, this is one more thing I like about metal roofing. Yeh, really – after all, metal will hold up a whole lot better than asphalt shingle, just because IT IS metal.
